Mozilla Firefox (understood only as Firefox) is an open source as well as free [21] web browser developed by its own subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation and the Mozilla Foundation using a cellular variant for Windows, OS X, and Linux,. The Firefox endeavor started as an experimental branch by Joe Hewitt, Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross. They considered the commercial requirements of Netscape’s sponsorship and developer-driven feature creep undermined the utility of the Mozilla browser.[32] To fight what they saw as the Mozilla Suite’s software bloat, they created a standalone browser, with which they meant to replace the Mozilla Suite.[33] On April 3, 2003, the Mozilla Organization declared that they planned to improve their focus from the Mozilla Suite to Firefox and Thunderbird.[34]

The Firefox project has experienced several name changes. It was originally titled Phoenix, which carried the significance of the legendary firebird that rose triumphantly in the ashes of its own dead forerunner, in this situation in the “ashes” of Netscape Navigator after it have been killed off by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in the “First browser war”. Phoenix was renamed because of trademark problems with Phoenix Technologies; the replacement name, Firebird, induced an extreme answer in the Firebird database applications job.[35][36] In response, the Mozilla Foundation said the browser would always bear the name Mozilla Firebird to prevent confusion. After additional pressure, on February 9, 2004, Mozilla Firebird became Mozilla Firefox.[37] The name Firefox was said to be derived from a nickname of the red panda,[38][39] which became the mascot for the recently called job. For the abbreviation Mozilla favors fx or Fx, though it’s frequently abbreviated as FF.[40]
The Firefox project went through many variations before the version 1.0 was released on November 9, 2004.

Firefox for mobile is a web browser for smaller non- PDAs, mobile phones and PC devices.
